- Denmark happiest elite and B level tournament for girls and boys from 28. July to 2. August.

Brøndby Cup a success

2000 players from more than 125 teams from 5 nations participated in the tournament, which took place on the football pitches of Brøndby IF. Players from both elite and non-elite youth footballteams competed for prizes over a 5 day period.

Michael B. Espersen head of tournament committee:
- What we are particularly proud of is that our tournament are unique when it comes to present an elite and non-elite tournament at the same time. That means that everyone is welcome and this is very important for the club. Non-elite teams can come and see what it takes to reach the highest level.

Two Schools both located as neighbors of the club came into use as living and dining place for the participants and this gave optimum conditions for all parties. As something new this year, we opened a coach/leader lounge where you could relax in the sofas with a coffee. Also as a new option parents could camp next to one of the schools close to the pitches.

- It's fourth years I am involved in this tournament and there will always be different things people rightly want to criticize during such a big tournament, but this year we actually had no problems and we have received lots of positive feed-back. Many clubs will encourage more teams to come next year and it has really been great to feel the support. This year we also benefited from some excellent sunny summer days, says Michael B. Espersen and elaborates:

- Our event area has been a good center where people could gather and our coach/leader lounge has served as a cozy area with the kids right next to, where they could gather for table tennis, table football, playstation and much more. Besides that, we had a camping area with space for 48 units, and already this year, half the spaces were occupied so there is the opportunity for families to come and live close to the tournament.

The future of Brøndby Cup looks bright and there are big plans and hopes for the coming year.

- We have a vision of the tournament to increase with 50 teams. New elite teams such as FC Midtjylland and OB have been happy and the next year, AGF also stop by. Besides, we have many contacts abroad, so we will certainly also become a more international tournament in the coming years. Already, we have agreements with British, Russian and Ukrainian teams for next year. And one should not forget that this year we had a visit from Brøndby IF's exciting cooperative club in South Africa Bidvest Wits, so we allow ourselves to be great optimists.

Also we should remember to say thanks to the many volunteers around the pitches and on the two schools for the great work they provide, which makes it possible to dream of an even bigger and better tournament next year, says Michael B. Espersen.
